Put bonemeal in the bottom dispenser for it to work.

You can replace the Warped Nylium with Crimson Nylium or grass for different loot drops (flowers, red fungi)

I would recommend composting any unwanted items to feed the farm with and building it high enough off the ground so you can run under it to easily get drops
