This is an update to my original Grand Colosseum, based on helpful comments by members who tried it. Thank you to all who offered suggestions!
The Grand Colossem II is the same size as the original, a whopping 170x170x88 (give or take a few blocks on the height, some is air). Upgrades include lighting throughout, floors with patterns to provide more visual interest, a cool inlay in the arena floor and minor tweaks to the interior such as a mezzanine overlooking the main entry floor. I left all the best features it once had including the full basement/labrynth area. All levels are accessible via stairways. A couple pics were done at night to show lighting improvements which was the most common suggestion made. Last pic is of just the basement area.
Important note about pasting: For people who already have the original Grand Colosseum, you can stand in the exact center of the old one, and the Grand Colosseum II will replace it with all the upgrades but keep it in your chosen spot. If you find you liked the old one better, simply "undo" and you will revert back to the original.
For people downloading for the first time, simply stand at the location you want the exact center of the colosseum and paste. It is a big schematic and takes a few seconds to load, but when it does you will be standing in the center of an awe inspiring arena! If you are pasting in a super flat world, make sure you have at least 7 layers of dirt under you to make sure the basement level pastes properly. If not you will fall into nothingness if you go downstairs!
Feel free to use the Grand Colossem II in any way you wish. Please give due credits if using on a server, and a link to this page for others to download it if possible.
As always, I am open to constructive criticism and new ideas to improve. Please take the time to rate this schematic since I've got so many hours into this one to count and you are allowed to download and use it any way you want for free. That being said, if leaving a low rating because you don't like it, have the guts to leave a comment to explain why so I can improve the quality of my schematics. I can not improve or provide what you are looking for if you just rate it low and offer not offer an explanation.
I am so glad i revisited your page to give credit to you on your build on my private server with some friends, i just found this second version, which saves me having the light up the original version, i absolutely love this build! |

Surely you would not make the emperor walk up more steps and have a view from farther away?! |

I would appreciate that greatly. I have not researched how to do a video on minecraft, and do not feel it would be right to review my own creation so have done nothing but make it available on this site. |

Awesome! Can i ask u how you make that? world edit,mc-edit or by hand? ^-^ |
by Chunkie on November 19th, 2013 08:20 AM EST Reply |
I used world edit to set the circles, but a huge part of this build was done by hand. The floors with patterns, all the fences, stairs, torches, hanging lights and pretty much everything else that wasn't a circular wall was all done by hand, as was everything filling the basement. I did make the the large columns on the outside ring by hand, then made a schematic and used paste to set them as they were quite time consuming. |
