Description

Simple mob farm and XP grinder. Made to use minimal cobble (half slabs) and other early game resources. Well suited to skyblock maps and building at Y-level 200. There is no way to toggle spawning. For that, I recommend upgrading to the redstone version, posted separately.

N.B. The spawn area is 2 blocks high. If you wish to include endermen then increase the ceiling height by 1 block, except above the half blocks in the centre of each of the 4 spawning pads, to avoid having mobs get stuck on them.

Check that you're not in peaceful mode. Also, make sure mobs aren't spawning nearby underground. This is why I recommend building at Y-level 200.

Assuming your game mode isn't set to peaceful (derp), if it's not working then it could be due to an update that changes how lighting goes through half slabs. If so, try replacing them with full blocks and see if that works.

The download is a schematic, not a map, so it should work regardless of what version of MC you have.

@W0nd3r: Ignore my previous comment. I just read this: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.13/Flattening - we're going to have to wait for MCE 2.0 to support 1.13 saves.
