yes the Etho clock can work well with 4 items, but for stability I used 5, lag could cause it to back up in the tube. and the number of minecarts doesn't matter except for saving on iron, but 6 would work fine!

There are minecarts in the schematic. make sure you have the setting "Paste ignore entities" set to false
Also, if you look at anything with an inventory, you can check if it's meant to have anything in it by using F3 + I
