UPDATE II: Nevermind what i wrote above. Everything should work as intended. There was a problem with claims and pistons not working on the SMP server I play on.

UPDATE: Just found out while playing SMP that the Sugar Cane Observer isnt working right, since the piston right underneath isnt reacting. Ill Update this build asap. All one would have to do is to connect said piston to the redstone that runs along the cactus (on top, outside).

Ok, what Ill try is the following:

1: Get rid of the water (for now)
2. Place trap doors around the dirt blocks you got up there
3. Put the water inbetween the dirt platforms. Take care that its all flowing to the middle.

The dirt platforms would need to be at least 2 blocks high for this.
