Description

A sky island with a jagged earth-and-stone underside suspending a sprawling Japanese castle complex built in tuff bricks and dark oak, with grey tiled roofs in place of the usual gold or copper. The multi-tiered pagoda rooftops sweep outward with precise upturned eaves, their cool grey tone giving the entire complex a sober, realistic feudal atmosphere. White and pale lavender wall panels contrast the dark wood framing, while a warm golden ornament crowns the central junction. Two tall terracotta-brown watchtowers with tuff caps stand at opposite edges of the island. Dense pink cherry blossom trees fill every open space between the buildings, and stone retaining terraces carve the hillside into natural levels down to the island's crumbling edge.
